  • What is Uruguay XXI’s relationship with Plug & Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley?

We have an agreement for a joint strategic collaboration and partnership to seek out the most talented technology startups and emerging companies from Uruguay and provide them with access to the resources necessary to accelerate, grow and launch their companies in Silicon Valley.

  • Can I apply to participate in the International Acceleration Program directly on Plug & Play’s website?

By applying directly on Plug & Play’s website, you are not applying to the sponsored program by Uruguay XXI. To be able to participate in the Uruguayan program at Plug & Play, companies need to go through the evaluation process with Uruguay XXI, Cuti, Ingenio and Plug & Play. Plug & Play accepts only companies that have been previously recruited and reviewed in Uruguay by Uruguay XXI, CUTI and Ingenio.

  • What is the application and two stage evaluation process?

Interested companies should submit a basic application form provided in this website, or in our partner’s websites in Uruguay - Uruguay XXI, Cuti and Ingenio. Companies must fill out the form and attach a one-page executive summary (template can be downloaded here) as well as a pitch deck presentation. Companies that fail to present these two documents will not be eligible to continue in the process. Selected companies from all eligible applications will be invited to pitch their venture to a panel of experts from Uruguay and Silicon Valley. Finalist companies will be announced to participate in our 3 month program in Silicon Valley.

  • Who will be reviewing my application?

All applications will be first revised by a delegation designated by Uruguay XXI, Cuti and Ingenio. Pre-selected companies will then be reviewed by 3 different groups of experts from Silicon Valley. This includes a representative of Plug and Play, an industry expert and startup advisor, and a venture capitalist. Your application will be assessed based on technology, sector, stage and team. If accepted we will invite you to join us for the live elevator pitch during our next trip to Uruguay.

The Plug and Play International Acceleration Program runs 4 times per year on a quarterly basis. Our team will work with the selected startups to identify when it would be the best time for the company to participate in the program. Ultimately, companies get to coordinate with other selected companies when they will each participate (limited to one company per program).

  • What support does Uruguay XXI provide to participating companies?

Uruguay XXI is Plug & Play’s partner and its objective is to help technology startups to access the Silicon Valley community for globalization. They achieve this by sponsoring Uruguayan startups with 70% of the Acceleration Program at Plug & Play. Companies must be able to cover the remaining 30% and travel and living expenses.
